Warm colours, highlights and a sharp definition between light and shade are characteristics of Ramesh Jhawar’s artworks. The strongest feature in his paintings is the light. Whether it shines brightly, beating down on the subjects, or gives off a soft glow, or even stays subdued, hidden behind clouds, it is the most visible part of his paintings.
The paintings themselves portray regular life. City and country roads and the people who walk along them everyday and even regular objects. His colours match the light and real life. They blend with each other when it is necessary and stand out when their individualism is needed. His figures, usually a little distant, are familiar and easy to relate to. His works tell us of the life that is right in front of us, outside our windows and remind us to notice its beauty.
